Huawei and Honor turned to Indian app developers to develop services like Google

Highlights: Both Chinese companies have offered one billion dollar fund to Indian app developers. These companies are banned from taking hardware and software from American companies.

Chinese telecom companies Huawei and its sub-brand Honor are planning to develop a service like Google's Mobile Service Suite with Indian app developers. These companies have been banned from taking hardware and software from American companies. In such a situation, Huawei and Honor have offered to fund one billion dollars (Rs 7,100 crore) to Indian app developers.

Google's services are closed on Huawei

US-based mobile operating system companies charge a fee from developers for loading apps created by developers on their platforms. In the Huawei Mobile Service (HMS) suite owned by Huawei and Honor, the two companies are willing to pay $17,000 to app developers to publish apps. There are many types of apps in HMS suite which are necessary for the functioning of mobile phones like messaging and navigation. In February this year, the US government prohibited domestic companies from supplying any hardware or software technology to Huawei. Google's services on Huawei and Honor Moible have been suspended indefinitely since then.

Developers will get many incentives

Charles Peng, CEO of Huawei and Honor India's Consumer Business Group, said that we will pay developers to publish an app in our app gallery. If they can publish the app without Google Mobile Service, then they will be given additional incentives. If they integrate their app with Huawei Mobile Service, then they will be given more incentives. In order to integrate apps with HMS, Huawei is offering an incentive of 20 thousand dollars to the developers.

Many Indian apps have been published on HMS

The company is in discussions to bring 150 apps from India to its platform. Indian companies such as MakeMyTrip and Gaana have also published their app on HMS. Peng said that we want to keep working on Android. We will soon launch a new phone ready on Android. HMS will support mobile phones that do not have access to Google Mobile Service and this will give our users options. Huawei has started launching smartphones that do not have GMS, this includes Gmail, YouTube, Navigation, Google Drive and Maps. Peng says that Huawei is willing to share HMS with other mobile phone brands.
