Is your PAN and Aadhar linked or not? Linking can be done by 31 December

HIGHLIGHTS: It is mandatory to link PAN-Aadhaar by December 31, failing which PAN card will be treated as canceled. If you have not yet linked Aadhaar-PAN, then link it as soon as possible.

Check whether there is an Aadhaar-PAN link

• First of all, visit the official website of the Income Tax Department www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in. 

• Click on the link Aadhaar of the Quick Links option written on the left. After this, a new page will open on the screen. 

• There will be a hyperlink at the top of this page, which will be written in English. If you have already requested to link Aadhaar, then click here to know the status.

• After clicking on this hyper link, you will have to enter your PAN and Aadhaar details.

• Click on 'View Link Aadhaar Status', in its result you will know whether PAN is connected to your Aadhar or not. If Aadhaar and PAN are not linked, get them done immediately.

Link through an SMS

• The Income Tax Department has given an option to the taxpayers that they can also link Aadhaar-PAN through SMS. This method is the easiest. 

• For this, you have to type UIDPN in your phone. After this, enter your Aadhaar number and then the PAN number by giving space. 

• For example UIDPAN is to send <space> <12-digit Aadhaar> <space> <10-digit PAN> to 567678 or 56161. 

• After this the Income Tax Department will put both your numbers in the link process.

Link through Online Mode

• First of all, if your account is not created then register yourself first.

• After this go to the e-filing website of the Income Tax Department (www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in).

• Click here to see 'Link Aadhaar' option on the website.

• After login, go to the profile settings of your account.

• In the profile settings, you will see the option to link Aadhaar card, select it.

• Fill your Aadhaar number and captcha code in the section given here.

• After filling the information, click on the link link shown below. After this your Aadhaar will be linked.
