HIGHLIGHTS: The Union Finance Ministry has issued a gazette notification on 7 February regarding its printing rules.

A new 1 rupee note is going to be in circulation in the country soon. The Union Finance Ministry has issued a gazette notification on 7 February regarding its printing rules. In the notification, several details have been given about the new one rupee note. These include color, design, standard weight, dimension etc. It has been said in the notification that new notes of 1 rupee will be printed in the printing press under the authority of the Government of India.

Dimensions

The new 1 rupee note will be 9.7 cm long and 6.3 cm wide. Its paper will be made of 100 percent rag (cotton) content. The note will be 110 microns thick and weighs 90 grams per square meter. Its window will have multi tonal watermarks with Ashoka Pillar and 'Satyamev Jayate' will not be written. The hidden '1' will remain in the middle of the note and the word 'Bharat' will remain vertically to the right in the hidden form.

Note color

The color of the new one rupee note will look pink green on both sides. Other colors will also be present along with it.

Design

Both "Government of India" and "Government of India" will be written on the front of the note. Along with this, the signature of Atan Chakraborty, Secretary, Ministry of Finance will be there. Apart from this, there will be a replica of one rupee coin issued with '₹' symbol and Satyamev Jayate. The numbering panel will contain 'L' in the capital letter. According to the notification, the number will be numbered in black on the bottom right of the note. In this, the size of the numbers will be in the increasing order from left to right. At the same time, the first three will be the same in alphanumeric character size.

'Government of India' will be written on the back side of the note. Simultaneously, there will be a replica of one rupee coin with the year 2020 and '₹' symbol. The main design will be of grain and the surrounding design will include the picture of the oil exploration platform 'Sagar Samrat'. The value of the note in the language panel will be present in 15 Indian languages. The year will appear vertically in the international number between Sagar Samrat and the language panel.
